It’s true. YOU made it possible. YOU listened, supported, and selflessly enabled Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus (SVGMC) to make a bigger impact and represent the GLBT community. So many arts organization have folded recently in the SouthBay; we are delighted to be your fun source of music, pride, and voice for the community!
Make it Big, and definitely make it Gay. We have changed the venue to be more accessible for everyone. For one Saturday evening only, have fun with SVGMC as we sing showtunes, dance favs, and a few gay classics to bring in the Pride festivities! Also featuring Music Diva Lucy Manhattan; and welcome the return of OutBurst - a talented small musical ensemble consisting of past and present members of SVGMC.
So let’s celebrate, YOU with SVGMC at this benefit concert. Your smile is your ticket. No admission fee. Donations gleefully accepted at the door or checks thrown onto the stage!. Lucy Manhattan, “The Diva Deluxe”, male actress, and “rubenesque glamour goddess” is an icon in Silicon Valley. Lucy’s show Manhatttan Monday ran for twelve consecutive years—a feat achieved by few performers in any genre. Other shows include DIVA (with SVGMC 2006) and That Time of the Month. She has hosted San Jose’s Gay Pride Festival eleven times, played Las Vegas three times , and brought a thousand people to their feet at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts. Early ensemble work includes: Les Femmes Rouge, Lucy Manhattan & the Lower Bronx Review, and Jett Lagg. Memorable performances include her role as Monica Lewdwinski in “Who Killed Donna Sachet?” Lucy currently appears each 2nd Sunday of the month at Brix Nightclub at 8:30pm (a reasonable time for a school night). Lucy is thrilled to be performing with SVGMC again.
Shawn Reifschneider has been directing choral ensembles and teaching voice since 1993. In 2000 Mr. Reifschneider began teaching in the San Mateo Union High School District. He is currently directing choral music at both San Mateo and Burlingame High Schools. He has directed vocals for many high school musicals over the years. Mr. Reifschneider also holds the Music Director position at the Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo. He has served as guest conductor and adjudicator for festivals and summer music camps and was organizing chair of the American Choral Directors Association Western Division 2010 High School Honor Choir. Mr. Reifschneider earned his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University in Hayward, double majoring in Vocal Performance and Business Administration. He went on to pursue further study in Music and Worship, earning his Master of Divinity degree at Oregon’s Western Seminary.
