Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus’s Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that Corey Liggans Miller will become the choir’s next artistic director.

Like every chorus around the world, SVGMC spent the last 16 months unable to perform together and in person. So, as SVGMC prepares to launch its 39th season, in preparation for its first in-person concert to debut exactly two years after it last performed together and in person, Corey’s appointment comes at a very exciting time.

“Along with his incredible talent and strong leadership skills, the board believes that Corey represents a fresh and compelling voice for a new generation. We look forward to working with Corey to support his artistic vision and can’t wait to see where he takes us,” said newly appointed Board President Anthony Hand.

Corey is not new to SVGMC. He first joined the chorus as a singer in 2017, served as a membership chair, and he was assistant director from 2018 to 2020. Under his leadership Corey created some beautiful and extraordinary moments in the organization’s performances. Most recently, Corey revived SVGMC’s a cappella ensemble, OutBursts, which was slated to launch at a concert that was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“I am honored to be selected as the new Artistic Director,” said Corey. “It’s a privilege to continue Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus’s legacy and to help bring our choral and LGBTQIA+ community back together. And most importantly, I look forward to celebrating our queer culture and diversity in new and meaningful ways while celebrating our history.”

Corey is the tenth artistic director since SVGMC’s founding in 1983.
