General Manager
Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus is looking for an entrepreneurial leader to provide administrative support for our chorus. The ideal candidate possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills; leadership and community relations experience; extensive project management and coordination capabilities; and a proven track record in collaborating with volunteers and independent contractors. The general manager reports to the president of the board of directors for direction and works in collaboration with the artistic and associate directors.

POSITION DETAILS
Position Title: General Manager
Purpose of Position: The general manager is responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of the organization. They support the mission and vision of SVGMC and long-term planning and vision in the areas of finance, marketing, and community engagement. This is a part-time, employee position.
Time commitment: 20–40 hours per month
Compensation: $750 per month for 12 months
Responsibilities
Administration and Community Outreach
Coordinate administrative support for SVGMC performances, rehearsals, and other events.
Recruit and manage volunteers and coordinate with all volunteer staff positions.
Coordinate with volunteer staff, bookkeeper, and board treasurer to maintain financial, patron, and member records including mailing lists, resource lists, membership lists, and concert information.
Support fundraising efforts to benefit SVGMC including special events, development events, and submission of grants.
Coordinate collection of payment for membership dues, retreat fees, and other membership-related invoices.
Supervise the use of office space, equipment, and supplies.
Artistic Production
Support the artistic and associate directors and coordinate with the needs of artistic production.
Coordinate the movement of equipment from the storage unit to and from rehearsal spaces and production venues.
Maintain the equipment in the storage unit and office.
Maintain and catalog SVGMC’s print and digital sheet music libraries.
Support the marketing director as needed.
Support the membership chair(s) as needed.
Function as the box office manager at all SVGMC events and productions.
Support production house managers during all events and performances.
Communication
Receive, forward, and reply to SVGMC mail and electronic correspondence in a timely manner and as appropriate.
Maintain the master calendar of chorus activities and events.
Serve as a contact to other choruses, agencies, and organizations.
Work closely with the membership chair(s) to facilitate clear communication with chorus members.
Miscellaneous
Promote positive support for the membership, staff, and volunteers of SVGMC.
Embrace the mission and vision of SVGMC and work with the board of directors to support and promote the mission and vision within the membership and greater community.
Attend monthly SVGMC board meetings and provide organizational updates.
Other duties as assigned and approved by the board president.
Qualifications Summary
Proven success in managing and coordinating a volunteer program.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate leadership, flexibility, and professionalism.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Availability for Chorus rehearsals, performances, and other events.
Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation preferred.
